Set up printer automatically
☑️ Location Owners
You can use automatic printer linking to search for printers from the POS app and register a discovered printer without entering the technical details manually.
Automatic linking requires a POS screen to be linked to the location. For instructions on linking a screen, refer to this page.
Start printer discovery
To start printer discovery, please follow these steps:
- Go to Back Office → Equipment → Printers.
- Click 'Add Printer'.
- Select automatic linking.
- If Back Office displays the 'Discover with POS app' flow or a QR code, open it from the linked POS screen. You can scan the QR code with the POS device to open printer discovery in the POS app.
- In the POS app, start the printer search.
After the search starts, the POS shows a search or progress state while it scans the local network. Wait until the search is completed and the list of discovered printers is shown.
Choose a discovered printer
The POS displays the printers found on the local network. Printers that are already registered are shown separately from printers that can still be added, so you can clearly see which printer is available for registration.
Before registering a printer, check the information shown for the discovered printer, such as its name, IP address, model or manufacturer when available.
If test printing is available for a discovered printer, use the test print option before selecting it. This helps you confirm that the selected printer is the physical printer you want to add and that the connection works.
Register the printer
To register a new printer, select a printer that can be added and complete the required information:
- Printer name – Enter a clear name that helps users recognise the printer in Back Office and POS, for example 'Kitchen printer' or 'Bar bill printer'.
- Purpose – Select how the printer will be used:
- Preparation – Used to print order tickets, transfer tickets, and next course tickets.
- Bill – Used to print bill tickets after payment has been accepted.
Click 'Add' or 'Save' to register the printer.
After successful registration, the printer appears in the printer list in Back Office. The printer can then be used according to its selected purpose.
To adjust advanced printer settings after saving, go to Back Office → Equipment → Printers and click the edit icon for the corresponding printer. You can update settings such as the printer name, purpose, IP address, port, paper width, and other available options. For more information, refer to the printer settings management page.
If no printer is found
If the POS does not find any printer, check the following:
- Make sure the printer is powered on.
- Make sure the printer is connected to the network.
- Make sure the POS device and the printer are connected to the same network.
After checking these points, start the printer search again.
