Printer error and redirection

Who can use this feature?

POS Users

In situations where the printer is unavailable or cannot be found by the device in use, you will be offered several ways to resolve this issue.

If the selected printer for the device cannot be reached, a 'Printer error' pop-up will appear with three options:

Repeat

  • Click on this button to try printing the ticket again. The issue may have been a one time error, or your screen might lack the authorisation to find nearby devices. In such cases, navigate to your tablet or phone's settings to grant the necessary permissions, then click 'Repeat'.

Redirect

  • Click on this button to select another printer for issuing the ticket.

The POS Users can redirect the printers only if they have the relevant permissions in the Back Office.

To give relevant permission, you need to tick the checkbox in the POS User settings. For more information, refer to this page.

Also you can navigate to the printer management screen and redirect this printer to the other one directly there.

For more information about the printer management screen, refer to this page.

Note: If you redirect a printer and the cash drawer is connected to it, it will not be opened after a payment until you switch back to the printer the cash drawer is connected to.

Ignore

To deactivate 'ignore' status, go to the printer management section in the POS and print a test ticket. This will change the printer's status.

  • If you want to skip printing the ticket, click on this button. The printer labeled 'ignored' will not print tickets and will not show a printer error for 1 minute.

Ignore can be helpful in case you lose a Wi-Fi connection for a while and continue ordering via a mobile network, for example. In this case, you can choose to temporarily ignore and as soon as you are in Wi-Fi coverage again, you can repeat printing using the button from of printer error pop-up. All the tickets automatically saved while you were connected to a mobile network will be printed after you are reconnected to Wi-Fi.

Tip: If you don't have an actual printer yet, you may use a 'Do not print' feature. This functionality allows you to simulate the issuing of tickets without actual printing.

You can monitor and manage redirections, and test the printing on a specific device on the printer management page within the POS. For more information about that, refer to this page.
