With unTill Air, you can start working in the POS with no more than just a screen (tablet or smartphone). It's not mandatory to have bill printers, for example, because you are free to deliver digital bills to your customers.
For details about digital bills in unTill Air, refer to this page.
However, you may of course need equipment other than screens. For instance, you could add preparation printers to let the team members responsible for preparing the food or purchases know about the order, and bill printers to print physical receipts if some customers prefer them to digital bills.
When setting up your unTill Air location, you can add the following devices in the Back Office:
Screens (tablets and phones)
Printers (preparation printers and bill printers)
Payment terminals (Available only with unTill Payments activated)
You can add all the devices needed from the Equipment page of the Back Office.
To add a new device on the Equipment page, please follow these steps:
Navigate to General > Equipment.
Click 'Add new equipment'.
Select what kind of devices you want to add.
You can add a new screen to the unTill Air location using two different ways depending on the type of device you are going to link to the location.
Using QR code
Using link
The first approach is perfect for devices that have cameras, the second approach is designed mostly for devices that do not have cameras.
To add screen to the location, please follow these steps:
Install the unTill Air app on your screen.
For details on how to install the unTill Air app, refer to this page.
Depending on the device type (camera or without camera), follow the steps either for a QR code or a link option.
In the Back Office, navigate to Equipment.
Click 'Add new equipment' and select that you want to add a screen.
Select the sales type for the screen in the top tab.
You can choose either the Direct sales mode or the Table plan mode:
If you are using the Direct sales mode:
Enter a name for this screen (e.g. iPhone Bert)
Indicate any Direct sales area number
Choose the Space that determines the Departments and Articles that would be available
You can choose the Space designated as 'Direct sales area' specifically created for the purposes of direct sales. For details, refer to this page.
Note: The Space you select will include all Articles assigned to it. Additionally, if the Special price feature is enabled, these prices will also be applied in Direct sales mode.
If you are using the Table plan mode:
Enter the name for this screen (e.g. iPhone Bert)
Now, when you have configured screens in the Back Office either for Table plan or Direct sales modes, you can go to the screen you want to connect.
Open the unTill Air app on your screen.
The 'Link screen' page will appear. Tap on the 'Link device' blue button.
Allow the app to access the camera. If you haven't given the necessary permissions, fix it through the device settings as explained in this FAQ.
Scan the QR code displayed in the Back Office using the screen.
When adding a screen in unTill Air, only the essential settings are shown, nothing excessive. By default, digital bills are set as a preferred method of delivering a bill to customers but you can change it in the Back Office afterwards if needed.
The screen settings appear when you edit a screen already added to the location. So, to modify the settings you need to double-click on the screen line in the Equipment section and take a look at the appeared settings.
Here, you can modify the receipt settings and assign payment terminals to this particular screen.
The receipt setting defines whether you work with digital bills or printed bills, or combine both approaches.
If you select the 'Show a QR code' option, after each payment in the POS, a pop-up with a QR and an email field will appear. So, your customer can either scan a QR code and view their bill or ask to send the bill via email.
If you select the 'Print to (printer's name) option, after each payment in the POS, the bills will be printed on a printer specified in the screen settings.
If you select the 'Show a QR code' option and have at least one bill printer added to the location, you will be able to combine both digital bills and printed copies.
For more information on how to combine these approaches and work with digital bills in general, refer to this page.
Also, in the screen settings, you can assign payment terminals already added to the Back Office. In the corresponding field, select a terminal and then save the changes.
Provide a name for your new printer.
Select the purpose of using it (either 'preparation', or 'receipt', or both).
It issues preparation tickets such as new order, next course, and transfer table. This printer is usually installed in the kitchen, bar, or retail preparation area.
Provide the IP of your printer.
What's a printer IP? It refers to the 12-digit ID number assigned to your printer which is used to connect a printer to the internet and to another device, such as a screen, for example.
To find out which IP you need to enter for your printer, print out the information ticket from the settings of your printer, or try searching for this device from your phone via a Bluetooth connection.
Note: When you are using mobile internet on your screen, it's not possible to connect to a printer, so printing will not work. To print tickets, you have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
Tip: If you don't want to print actual receipts, for example, when testing unTill Air, you can select the 'Do not print' option.
Click 'Save'.
For more information about how to set up a printer, refer to this page.
Note: If you have no access to the unTill Payments feature you cannot add payment terminals. For more details about getting access to unTill Payments, refer to this page.
Before adding new terminals in the Back Office you should reach your reseller or unTill Air representative to arrange the delivery of terminals and their linking to your location.
Provide a name for your new terminal.
Go to the unTill Payments Portal and copy the POIID of the terminal in the 'Terminals' section.
Enter the POIID of your terminal in the Back Office.
Click 'Continue'.
In the Equipment, edit your screen (double-click on the screen's line).
In the terminal field, select the one recently created.
Click 'Save'.
